Do Companies Really Want To Hear From You?

15
I just want to talk to someone!

I just want to talk to someone!

How many times have you received an email from a business and find you want to talk to them about the message yet find they do not accept a reply email?

Personally I find this frustrating. If I want to talk to them about their message I have to go to their website, find the ‘Contact Us’ page, if they haven’t tried to hide it to reduce the cost of client communication even more (it seems there is a trend that makes it more likely you will be pointed towards a community page to solve your issues in some businesses online).

So why to online businesses not like talking to their clients? because it costs money in labor hours. If they can pass you across to an FAQ page, an automated robot helper or other customers on a forum with the same question, many seem to think this is a good idea.

Rest assured, here at Background Music Library we understand this is a really frustrating way to try to communicate with any business so you have our word that any message we send, you can reply to and you will get a real person reading and responding to you.

The Tough Model Makes A Successful Business

Posted: September 2011 in Background Music Articles

Background Music Library prides itself with the quality and professionalism of its artists. With such a large library there are of course a lot of musicians and this means lots of management and good communication by us here at Background Music Library.

Because we need a large number of artists to create the variety and choice clients need for their decision making for business projects we also need to ensure that our artists are at all times professional and to some degree self resilient. We want to spend as much time as we can with both clients and artists but need to ensure this business model is not at risk where an artist requires more time than we can give.

We offer guidance, motivation, feedback and mentoring where required. We have seen that the artists with most potential gain from our time where required which benefits the artists and of course, clients. We also need to make sure that there are no artists who consistently require more support. This can tend to occur where artists are new to the business music market place or have different expectations of how much they can receive from us.

Sometimes artists expect full management or full customer service. Yet our model is explicitly non exclusive to ensure not only that artists continue to have the freedom to market their music in what ever way they feel (subject to contract of course, and not being registered with any performing rights society) but also because we can not offer the vast resources required to exclusively manage an artist and their music library.

For this reason it is key that at times we do not take up the submission of some artists and also choose to let go some other artists we have experienced working with. This then allows us to maintain a better balance of resources to our artists and also clients and ensures that the business model continues to succeed.

Strange Going’s On In YouTube Land

False and Illegal claim by GoDigital Media Group on my YouTube video

The article writer on this posting allegedly is the licensee of music for use as background music on YouTube and states,

“A couple of weeks ago, just a week or so after I uploaded the short to my YouTube channel, GoDigital Media Group claimed copyright “on behalf of the artist”, placing their own ads on the video. Having paid the licence fee, I immediately disputed the claim and the ads were removed, but today I see the ads have returned. To my disgust, in my YouTube account the explantion is: “All content owners have reviewed your video and confirmed their claims to some or all of its content: Entity: GoDigital for a third party Content Type: Sound Recording”. “

Of course, concerning for a number of reasons not least because of the worry from a license customer that they are being challenged about the license use of the music they legally purchased.

Additionally, I am concerned that YouTube can be triggered so easily into assuming the user of the music is using the music illegally.

Recently I had to question a user’s use of music myself (see separate article to be linked here soon) which turned out to be a misunderstanding thankfully. I do not question the copyright holder or the licensor’s right to state an issue with a site such as YouTube but I do feel in this instance, as it is quoted here, YouTube without clarification were more eager / worried by the license claim than looking at the evidence from both sides.

Spending time in courts is going to do neither any good. There needs to be a licensing ombudsman or something similar where licenses can be checked and referenced for both parties.

Of course, but just to clarify, we at Kesseny Ltd who trade as Background-Music-Library.com do not have any dealings with GoDigital Media Group nor do we intend to.

Bad Habit Blues

I have this bad habit of reading the news each day recently. The trouble is there is a certainty of deaths in afganistan, terrorist horrors, supressed peoples, aid workers attacked helping to relieve the suppressed, oil disasters destroying wildlife and people’s livelyhoods, cost cuts in all services, I could go on, probably I have done so already too much but you get the picture.

So maybe its time for a blues revival? Matching the feeling amoungst the world today. It seems to me you are likely to need some good blues if you are so angry with the world you want to kill people, or you are so supressed you have lost hope and are looking for desparate ways to make yoir mark on the planet, or you are a humble trader fighting poverty either through world recession, natural disasters or human made. Either way, I take my blues hat off to you.

Keep Your Playlist Fresh

I discovered a new cafe recently. It seemed a great cafe, good coffee, great food, nice people and great music! In fact the music was quite interesting, a mix of The Stranglers, The Cure and Coldplay. Great I thought. Except each time I went back the music was the same!

Ok I loved the music but it would be great to circulate the playlist a little. Maybe the guys changed the music each day and I picked the same day they were playing that playlist, but no.

Anyway, lovely cafe but a change of playlist a bit more regularly I think would make customers more likely come back more regularly.

Customers are more comfortable with regular refreshes of music rather than accepting your atmosphere relies on the exact same music playlist each day, day after day.
